Product Advantages
Full 360° continuous rotation without mechanical limit, no dead‑zone for wind‑direction detection.
High‑strength metal structure with orange anti‑corrosion spray coating, good UV‑resistance, suitable for coastal & marine harsh environment.
Low power consumption design, compatible with solar power supply system for remote sites.
Multiple signal output options(0‑5V /4‑20mA), easy to connect with PLC, data logger, weather station host.
IP65 waterproof and dust‑proof grade, works normally under rain, snow, salt fog.
Light‑weight balance wind‑vane blade, sensitive response to light breeze, stable rotation.
Standard mounting interface, quick replacement for old anemometer / weather‑station equipment.
Working Principle
The AM706E wind vane adopts mechanical balance wind‑rudder principle.
When wind blows, the vane blade will rotate automatically and point to the wind‑coming direction. Inside the rotating shaft, a precision angle sensing element converts the physical rotation angle of wind vane into proportional analog electrical signal.
The host system reads the signal value and converts it into real‑time wind‑direction value (0‑360°). It only detects wind direction; wind‑speed measuring part needs to be equipped with matching anemometer.
Application Scenarios
Marine vessel & ship onboard meteorological monitoring
Automatic weather station for meteorological bureau
Port, wharf, offshore platform wind monitoring
Construction tower‑crane safety wind monitoring
Wind‑farm site auxiliary meteorological measurement
Outdoor industrial factory environmental monitoring
Airport, highway, bridge wind‑condition observation
Maintenance Instructions
Periodically inspect the rotating part every 3‑6 months: check if foreign matters such as spider webs, dust are stuck to the vane assembly. Remove dirt gently.
Do not apply heavy grease to rotation shaft. Excess grease will adsorb dust and cause rotation jamming.
Check the cable connector regularly for water‑intrusion and corrosion; seal connector properly in coastal salt‑fog area.
Visually inspect surface coating; touch‑up painting is required if anti‑corrosion paint peels off.
Do not knock or bend the wind vane blade. Deformation will cause measuring deviation.
In typhoon / strong‑wind season, enhance visual inspection; replace spare parts if rotation is stuck or response becomes insensitive.
Spare Parts List
Wind vane blade assembly (orange rudder blade + balance counterweight)
Rotating shaft core sensor module
Mounting fastening screw set
Output signal connecting cable
Outer anti‑corrosion protective housing
Acceptance Standard
Visual check: Complete surface coating; no crack, dent, deformation for wind‑vane blade and housing.
Manual‑rotation test: The vane should rotate smoothly 360°, no obvious jamming or stuck point.
Electrical test: Power on the sensor, manually turn the vane, output signal should change continuously with rotation angle.
Installation dimension check: Mounting shaft hole matches specified installation dimension.
Accessories: Confirm all accessories & cable are complete as per order.
FAQ
Q1 : Does AM706E include wind speed measuring function?
A: No. AM706E is wind‑direction only wind vane. You need to purchase matching anemometer for wind‑speed data.
Q2: Can this wind vane work in marine salt‑fog environment?
A: Yes. Metal anti‑corrosion spraying paint, IP65 rating. Suggest doing extra cable joint sealing for long‑term marine application.
Q3: What output signal is standard for AM706E? Can I change to 4‑20mA?
A: Standard output is 0‑5V voltage signal. 4‑20mA current output is optional, please specify when placing order.
Q4: Why wind vane rotation becomes sluggish after long‑time outdoor use?
A: Usually caused by dust, spider web or dirt entering rotating shaft. Clean foreign objects according to maintenance guide; if still stuck, replace rotating core spare‑part.
Q5: What power supply voltage does AM706E support? Can it use solar panel?
A: DC5‑24V wide‑voltage input, low power consumption<0.5W, perfectly compatible with solar power system.
Q6: Can AM706E replace other brand old wind vane?
A: Please check mounting shaft dimension and signal output protocol. It supports replacement when mechanical size & signal match.
